The new Health Sciences Academic Building brings three University of Iowa programs together in a state-of-the-art facility designed to support learning, research, clinical care, and collaboration. The building provides expanded spaces and new technology as the programs continue to grow and serve students and communities across Iowa and beyond.

Seven major construction and renovation projects across the University of Iowa campus continued to make progress over the summer. The updates include new academic spaces, student gathering areas, facility expansions, and renovations that will continue throughout the fall and into future semesters.

The $81.4 million Iowa Memorial Union renovation remains on schedule and on budget after one year of construction. As the project progresses toward completion in fall 2027, UI Student Health is preparing to relocate from Westlawn to the third floor of the IMU.

For more than 50 years, the Wendell Johnson Speech and Hearing Center served as a hub for pioneering communication sciences and disorders research at the University of Iowa. That legacy will continue in the Health Sciences Academic Building, where the UI Speech, Language, and Hearing Clinic and Department of Communication Sciences and Disorders have relocated.

New information on individual building pages includes AED locations, Stop the Bleed kit locations, and more detailed lactation room information including available equipment, access details, and contact information. The new feature also allows for future development and addition of new services if needed.
