Facilities Management (FM) represents five core areas of expertise and service including three operational areas. With over 500 employees dedicated to excellence, we serve the University of Iowa through a range of functions including building care and landscaping, facilities information services, construction and project management, utilities, and sustainability. Facilities Management is a division of University Finance & Operations.
Administration
FM Administration includes the office of the Associate Vice President, Strategic Communications, and the Building Coordinators Program.
Building & Landscape Services
Building & Landscape Services is dedicated to campus building and landscape physical asset stewardship and customer service as needed and on request. BLS units include Custodial Services, Fault Detection and Diagnostics, Fire & Life Safety Services, Landscape Services, and Building Operations and Maintenance.

Business & Financial Services
Business & Financial Services is responsible for administrative support of all units of Facilities Management with specific responsibilities for Accounting, Capital Accounting, Facilities Information Services (FIS), FM@YourService, FM Information Technology, Maintenance Stores, and Safety.
Design & Construction
Design & Construction leads a comprehensive and cooperative approach to design and construction excellence in creating a campus that is consistent with the University of Iowa's status as one of the nation's leading academic/research institutions. Design and Constructions role includes architectural and interior design, construction management, environmental compliance, and project management.
UI Utilities
In 2020, the University of Iowa entered a 50-year public-private partnership with energy firms ENGIE and Meridiam. UI Utilities' partnership with ENGIE and Meridiam will help fund and support the university's strategic plan and core missions of teaching, research, and scholarship.
