UI plants second Miyawaki Forest outside College of Public Health Building

In honor of National Arbor Day, around 800 students, teachers, and community volunteers came together to plant about 2,000 seedlings outside the UI College of Public Health.

UI Receives 17th Consecutive Tree Campus Higher Education Award and Renews Arboretum Accreditation

The University of Iowa was honored with the Tree Campus Higher Education Award for 2025 at the Annual Community Forestry Awards Luncheon on April 8.  The award was presented by the Arbor Day Foundation and the Iowa Department of Natural Resources at the FFA Enrichment Center in Ankeny. The UI also recently had its level II Arboretum Accreditation renewed through March of 2031.

Join the Miyawaki Forest Tree Planting 2.0 on Arbor Day, Friday, April 24. This exciting initiative aims to plant 2,000 native tree saplings and shrubs using the Miyawaki Method, a technique for densely planting native trees to create bio-diverse and self-sustaining forests.
