The University of Iowa’s Hawkins Drive water tower will be removed now that a new water tower in Parking Lot 75 is serving the university. Removal work will occur on weekends — from 6 p.m. Fridays to 3 a.m. Mondays — between July 10 and the end of August.

Teams are replacing damaged sidewalk on the southwest corner of the Main Library building near the intersection of Library Plaza and Museum Drive, adding a new sidewalk and picnic table pads.

Engie contractors will be closing the sidewalk around the circular driveway leading to the College of Public Health building. This closure is to allow connecting the new water main supply to the College of Public Health. This sidewalk closure will not impact traffic.

Lot 88, located off Johnson Street between Bloomington Street and Market Street, will be closed indefinitely to enable the demolition of 601 Bloomington Street, the former Cancer Center. This project will enable a new surface parking lot to be constructed in late 2026.
