The Guardians symbolize two Cairns marking the pathway through the University of Iowa Campus. The steel elements are set to register the height of the former flood line. As time progresses, the steel will mark the lower sections with beautiful orange and red lines. It is the artist's intention that the stones reveal a fossilization from ancient water beds, natural and yet purposefully cut and placed as timeless landmarks.
