The University of Iowa’s new Health Sciences Academic Building is now home to the departments of Communication Sciences and Disorders; Health, Sport, and Human Physiology; and Physical Therapy and Rehabilitation Sciences. Located at South Grand and Melrose avenues, the building was substantially completed in 2025, with final work completed during summer 2026.
The new facility offers expanded classrooms, teaching and research labs, clinical spaces, student gathering areas, and advanced technology. New resources provide students with additional opportunities for hands-on learning while supporting faculty research and clinical care.
Bringing the three departments together also creates more opportunities for collaboration among students, faculty, staff, researchers, and clinicians. The shared space is designed to support the continued growth of the programs while strengthening education, research, and service to communities across Iowa and beyond.
