Farrukh Bashir has been named associate vice president and director of Facilities Management at the University of Iowa. He will begin on Feb. 2.

Bashir joins the UI from the University of Minnesota, where he serves as assistant director of Facilities Management, providing operational leadership at a large, research-intensive university. He brings more than 20 years of experience across higher education and healthcare, with expertise in facilities operations, financial management, strategic planning, and workforce development, along with a strong commitment to safety, sustainability, and employee engagement.

Before joining the University of Minnesota, Bashir held senior facilities leadership roles in healthcare and private industry, as well as positions in university housing and residence life. He has a PhD from the University of Minnesota and maintains professional credentials in facilities and project management.

Bashir will succeed Lynne Finn, the current associate vice president for Facilities Management, who will be retiring.
