The Wendell Johnson Speech and Hearing Center houses the Department of Communication Sciences and Disorders at The University of Iowa and is one of the oldest and largest programs of its kind. The department trains students and serves clients with speech, language, and hearing disorders.

- Edited the Iowa Literary Magazine (1928)
- Became the Louis W. Hill Research Professor (1963)
