Feldstein sees art making as a reflective act; a dialogue. "My images are objects upon which to reflect and consider who we are and how we got to be like this."

In 1984, Feldstein began attempting to photograph everyone in his home town of Oxford, Iowa (670 portraits). Twenty-two years later he re-photographed 250 of the original Oxford residents. The result was The Oxford Project, a large-format book published in 2008 to overwhelming national and international critical acclaim.

In his art for the College of Public Health, Iowa Portraits, Feldstein traveled throughout the state photographing the diversity of residents whose lives are affected by public health: in other words, everyone. From more than 300 images, he chose twelve that reflected an iconic representation of the face of Public Health in Iowa.

Feldstein has exhibited nationally and internationally and his work is included in several national collections. For 32 years Mr. Feldstein taught photography and digital imaging at the University of Iowa School of Art & Art History. Previous to that he taught in St. Louis, Boston, and NYC.
