Reason and details for closure/impact

The courtyard between the Biology Building and Phillips Hall will be closed from May 19, 2025, to March 20, 2026, due to an underground utility project. The sidewalk on the east side of the courtyard will be closed for the duration of the project, with pedestrian traffic detoured along North Dubuque Street to the east and Jefferson Street to the north.  This will also require entrance 5 at the Biology Building to remain closed during this time.

The Sciences Library will be closed from May 19 to July 13, 2025, to accommodate this work. Sciences Library staff will be able to collect materials for individuals during this time. For more information and assistance with checking out materials, visit https://lib.uiowa.edu/sciences/contact. Once the library reopens, the library will be accessible to the public via a temporary sidewalk from Jefferson Street.
