Our unified team will support the advancement of university excellence by planning for and improving current assets consistent with the status as one of the nation’s leading academic and research institutions.

Campus Planning Committee

The Campus Planning Committee is an eleven-person chartered committee charged with advising the University President on issues concerning the physical campus, its facilities, its uses and its continued development.

University Space Committee

The University Space Committee oversees reallocations of campus space and provides guidance for acquisition of additional space.   This oversight assures that new or altered space allocations are consistent with university strategic planning.

what we do

Campus Support

  • Liaise with UIHC, City, and the County representatives
  • Prepare facilities reports for Board of Regents as requested 
  • Chair the University Space Committee
  • Support the Instructional Space Committee and Research Space Committee
  • Provide input and support to the Campus Planning Committee.
  • Support the university’s administration, particularly the Executive Vice President and Provost, and Senior Vice President for Finance and Operations
  • Oversee Campus Planning e-mail account; handle requests and questions as needed


Campus Planning

  • Develop college and unit plans to identify long-term facilities needs to incorporate in the Campus Master Plan
  • Work with the Business Manager to coordinate and plan leased space and land holdings needed to support the Campus Master Plan

Long-range Plans

  • Prepare subject specific long-range facility plans for various components of the Campus Master Plan
  • Work with Building and Landscape Services (BLS) and Utilities and Utilities (UEM) to develop ongoing long-range improvement plans


Project Planning

  • Develop and maintain the university Facilities Improvement Plan to include all envisioned large-scale projects
  • Capital Construction Plan
  • Capital Renewal and Replacement Plan
  • Develop project plans, feasibility studies and project programming
  • Prepare miscellaneous facilities use studies
  • Provide input to the Facilities Management design standards
  • Presentation of projects to various entities (i.e. CPC)
  • Prepare forms for projects submitted for BOR approval
  • Maintain operating and maintenance, utilities and energy, and construction cost metrics for use in project planning


Space Planning & Management

  • Create and manage the ongoing university space plan
  • Create and maintain the university’s space model
  • Staff and chair the University Space Committee
  • Manage space requests and reallocation for all owned and leased space; make recommendations regarding space use to the University Space Committee
  • Ensure all space is used in an efficient manner while planning for the long-term needs of the university
  • Develop and maintain space planning guidelines
  • Assign room numbers for new or renovated space according to the university’s standards
  • Assist in room and building name assignments and changes
  • Support construction delivery
  • Provide space reports as needed including HEFMA, NFS, and the Facilities Governance Report
  • Monitor renovation projects, in conjunction with project managers, which will impact space use and/or floor plans
